Shimmer; Alone and Lonely

A beautiful mermaid lay on the bank of the river... The waves whispered her name, softly if you listen they say Shimmer... She had long, long blonde hair that stayed light even when thoroughly soaked and a bright aqua tail that glittered in the rising sun. Exept for her colouring little in her body shape differed her from her Dark sisters, the Sirens, and at that moment she was doing as the do, singing an enchanted song. A newborn unicorn heard her melody and was captivated by it, trotting over to the waters edge in a trance.Shimmer reached out for it like a Siren would, but unlike her Dark sisters, she did not grasp it and drag it to the depths. Instead, she stroked it several times so that when her song finished, it would not be frightened.
When she sang the last lyric she glanced around, the river was so empty. Mermaids didn't travel in pods, but this part of the river was usually such a social place. She was brought back to attention when the unicorn foal pawed at the water, splashing her. She smiled, blue eyes sparkling, and flicked her tail, a wave shot over her body, soaking the unicorn. It nickered joyfully and ran around, making Shimmer laugh. Then its dam called and it dissapeared, she was left. Alone and lonely...
