A Calling, to Dark Legend

As if reading Dappled Dawn's mind, Dark Dusk bolted the minute Dark Legends bodice thudded against the springing grass. He wobbled and fumbled and Dappled Dawn trotted by his side to watch if he fell. Subconsiously she knew they were getting further from Dark Legend but she hadn't consciously worked out that it would look like they were fleeing.

Dark Legend almost grunted a laugh, which just leveled over the frustration. If they thought they could get away at a two-beeted pace then they were far wrong. He hauled his front legs out in front of his muscular chest, and vaultered himself to a stand still. Ears were pinned against the nape of his neck as he plowed after then, slow but focused. "And as if by tag along you mean chase you?" He blurted ruefully.

Dappled Dawn looked at him, her ears flicking backwards dissmisively. "Don't be stupid, Dark Legend," she snorted. She focused her attention back on the colt in front of her, sticking out her muzzle to help guide him.
Dark Dusk looked so happy, his ears were pricked and his steps, somewhat unco-ordinated, were high and proud. He whinnied at his dam's touch, and his tail streamed behind him.

The stallion snorted a chunk in return of the mares rude comment, ears pinned firmly. He slowed his pace.. Not like they could go very far. He slowed his steady pace to a walk with a toss of his matted mane. He watched the two slowly progress in front of him.

Blu wandered into deep a forest she'd never seen before. How had she gotten here?
All she knew was, it didn't feel right here. She had to leave. Now.
Blu began to back up, when her hoof caught on a thick vine. She fell onto her rump, scraping it against the rocky terrain. Pain shot through her.
She cried out, then tried to silence it, but failed.
The wail rang throughout the forest, to it's depths.
Blu managed to scramble up, but her legs were wounded, and she realized she was limping at a sickeningly slow rate. Then she heard a squeal nearby, and the clop of fellow hooves racing away.
Oh no... She thought. A stallion.

Dappled Dusk trotted daintily, her head held high and her ears pricked as she heard the brute's steps slow. She didn't dare a glance back at him but was aware that he was falling behind. Her flaxen mane flittered in the soft breeze, tapping her neck with each trot stride. Dark Dusk was beginning to falter, he slowed a little and so his dam slowed. The now walked side by side, the little colt now steadied on his hooves. He kept his head extended, eyes keen to see the world around him, and he glanced back at his sire, whinnied, and looked ahead again.

Dark Legend was gradualy growing bored of the lack of adventure, and food at that. The stallion tucked his head further to his broad chest as he plodded behind the two, eyes narrow. He would leave now and return to Forcebreed forest without hezitation, but that was what she wanted. The shire slowed to a complete halt and stomped his feathered hoof, anger and impatience increasing dramaticly.

Dappled Dawn glanced back, she could see his tempered frustration. She knew that Dark Dusk could feel the tension he was letting off as he too stared warily at his sire. Rolling her eyes and sighing Dappled Dawn forced herself to ask, "what's wrong now Dark Legend?" There was a hint of satisfaction gleaming in her eyes as she could see that soon he would give up on her. Though she didn't matter to him, she knew that somewhere in the depths of his dark heart, he cared if she won or not, and she realised she was slowly winning. He couldn't live the solitude lifestyle of a parent, he belonged as an adrenaline junky, capturing unsuspecting mares. Dappled Dawn wondered how strong his want for a colt was, if it was strong enough to make him stay..

"what's wrong now Dark Legend?"
"Dont make me answer that." The large mass muttered ruefully. This mare was started to think she was the boss now aye? We'll see about that!
Thick ears never shifted from his nape, not even to listen to her responce.
The many crude words of threatening was bottling up in his head, ready to spit out within any moment, some of them were all crap, but some he would do.
His stand-still shifted to a steady walk, his back leg occasionally raising at instinct to kick out in frustration.

Dappled Dawn didn't care, she had forced herself not to answer him. He wasn't worthy of her time, and after all he did to her, she should've been heading for the hills. She looked down at the handsome black colt by her side and decided that Dark Legend would never matter, so long as her son was always with her. She dropped to her knees, Dark Dusk lying by her side, and together they slept.

Dark Legend's tail cord whipped violently, hinting his obvious frustration. It filled the night.
Oh how he wished to rip the mare from her young and crush her into the moist soil.
Hatred was at his peak, and Dappled Dawn better consider herself lucky, lucky his son wasn't old enough to seperate from her. Otherwise he would put her back into place with a brutal thwak in the jaw.
His ears were hidden in his messy, matted mane while he watched the duo with dark orbs.
He was fighting the temptation to thunder back to Forcebreed Forest, he was killing it actually, ripping of its limbs from its sockets.

Dappled Dawn opened one eye, she knew that the stallion was watching her, it was uncomfortable and she didn't like it. She stood and went nose to nose with him, her muzle only inches away. "Do it," she dared. Her eyes bore into his, she knew he would eventually take Dark Dusk and she hated the nagging feeling it gave her. She wanted him to go back to Forcebreed Forrest, though it had been her suggestion he stayed.

"Do it,"
The stallion snorted in discust, drawing his head back before thwaking it into hers.
The mass moved away again, but stayed put. "Do what?" He challenged, his words strong with hatred.
"Kill you?"
His huge feathered hoof pawed the ground, bringing intimadation with it.

"No," she replied tartly, taking a step back, "go back to your dreaded forrest." Her tail lashed at her sides and her ears pinned, Dark Legend was foolish and predictable. She didn't want him to think he was in charge, but he seemed easier to manage that way.

"go back to your dreaded forrest."
"Well guess what mare!?" He spat, his hoof stomping in warning. "I'm not leaving, unless my son is coming." He sickingly challenged, orbs deep with hatred.
All she was was a stupid piece of horse flesh, something he would have to learn to not kill for a little longer.

Dappled Dawn pinned her ears. "I am sorry Dark Legend, but the colt stays with me." She pot-reared and walked back over to her son.

"I am sorry Dark Legend, but the colt stays with me."
"And what could you do about it?" He chuckled in crude amusement. He ripped the soil from its roots as he challengingly pawed at the dirt.

Dappled Dawn shot a disdained look at the stallion, rolling her eyes dismissively. The strength in her will to look after Dark Dusk was beyond compare. "He can't live without me, and you know it." Underneath she knew he could possibly wait for his son, but something made her doubt it. Perhaps it was vain hope? She looked back at the black colt sleeping peicefully at her hoofs. He was beautiful, he was hers and he would not be taken away from her.

The large stallion pinned his ears against the nape of his thick neck, hiding them in his thick, tangeled mane. He shifted his body mass forward, keeping his huge daggers dug firmly into the soil.
Dark Legend didn't want to be reminded of the truth, the fact that he could take the foal from her comfort taunted him.
The dark tints of night were outlining the tall mountains that stood tall with the sky. All was silent for a some-what few seconds, being brocken by violent slashes of the angered stallion's whipcord.
